I know everybody’s hyped for SimplePlanes 2, including me—I’m both nervous and excited, especially since I’m a mobile player. So what is this? Basically, it’s my educated guess on when the second game might release.
Now that the playtest is announced, the community (mainly mobile players like me) is anxious to know the release date. My theory is that for Steam and Mac, it’ll probably drop around mid-to-late summer or fall 2025, maybe even December 10, which would be the 10-year anniversary of the first game. It just makes sense—that’s when companies usually release games for the Black Friday/holiday season.
As for mobile, remember the first game launched on mobile, Mac, and Windows, and didn’t hit Steam until a year later. So, we might see SimplePlanes 2 for mobile in early to mid-2026—maybe around January, February, or even March or May.
VR? Yeah… that’ll probably take even longer—maybe 2 to 3 years after the main release.
Note: THIS IS MY PREDICTION, DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY, IF WHAT IS SAID HERE ENDS UP HAPPENING IRL I JUST MAY BE LUCKY, OTHERWISE I MAY NOT BE SO GENEROUS.
But for now, we wait
@SupremeDorian thx bro, I hope im not alone in the first game
Posted April 24 2025.
Edit: my prediction for the mobile release is only IF they already started development for the mobile port, IDK if the did already but we must see.
@GabrielFangster70 yeah i can definitely emphasize with that. i think you'll be alright
@SupremeDorian
I’m gonna be very honest with you, I’m a mobile player, and I’m honestly scared that there won’t be that many mobile players here on SimplePlanes after sp2 launches, but honestly. I’ll respect others choices and that’s ok. But I’m scared of like all of this community going off and just leaving me here alone. :(
That’s all
@SupremeDorian I’m saying if they started working on mobile by now
As for now, mobile players. Are gonna have to keep at it here. I don’t wanna be alone, in the first game tbh
not to be a buzzkill but under the assumption of a PC release in December i'm not sure i would get my hopes too high for the mobile version being out that soon afterwards. Juno: New Origins (SimpleRockets 2 at the time) released on PC in November 2018, and never released on mobile until September the following year. personally for now i'd probably use that as the baseline for speculation, although of course it is impossible to know whether or not they might prioritize getting it out sooner than that
VR is more of flight mode for the base game. It doesn't even have an editor. I wouldn't be surprised if All they did was update spvr to run all the new parts.
So much cocain
