How do you reduce the wobble when pitching?

59 Altearex  8.8 years ago

As the title suggests, I am having difficulty keeping my planes from wobbling whenever I pitch up of down. I don't know the cause of this problem and don't know where to look to solve it. If you know the solution, please tell me so I can make planes that aren't crap. Thanks reading, and I'll see ya later.

Thank you all for responding, your advice will save me hours of headaches and hopelessly scouring the internet for some scrap of an answer.

I find alot of it has to do with your intial connection point on the said wing. I had trouble with my MiG it flew without primaries but when i slowly adjusted the connection point it stopped rolling

@Nickasaurus flat bottom (or any other wing types) don't affect stability, though. They're for when a wing is at zero angle of attack, but when pitching, you have a non-zero angle of attack and it's now the wing area which dominates. We want less stability if we want to turn faster, just not so little that the plane is unflyable.

@Skua thats where the flat bottom canards come into play, having it farther in front increases stability while the lift keeps it balanced

@Nickasaurus actually it should be closer; pitch wobble is caused by the control surfaces trying to pitch harder than the airframe can handle. Reducing the stability of the plane (moving the centres closer together) lets it pitch more easily. That and reducing the size of the control surfaces are the things to do.

Most likely it's because your control surfaces are too big. Make them longer and thinner, and the problem should be fixed.
