That downloads should count as 5-10 points because there are so many planes that get a bunch of downloads and a terrible download to upvote ratio.
People are making crappy scam copies with a few new parts and reposting just to make themselves feel good and I feel that is classified as cyberbullying, as it is putting the original maker at a disadvantage in terms of being seen.
@MrSilverWolf Like what you said I think downloads should only be one point even if it didn't count you downloading it from known ips
What about tracking what user downloads what? Like say Bob777 downloads a plane. +(points) to the creator. Bob777 downloads it again, no points awarded.
New users: 5-10 points
Bots/old users/creator: 0 points
Simple as SimplePlanes :D
@MrSilverWolf Well, then add a system that doesn't allow self download points
I see one problem with this, that would mean you could just download your own planes like 25,000 times and get that many points out of it, but other that that I see nothing els wrong with it.
IIRC, @Skua suggested to me that:
Anyone can download planes, and you get 1 point per unique person that downloads your build, with a limit of maybe 100 or 150 points per craft for downloads. The cap is so people don't upload that bridge destroying gun and get 35,000 points from it.
@Squirrel o.
@ShatterFox Having an in game upvote system would mean you can upvote people's aircraft from the actual game/builder, so you don't have to faff about with going from the internet, to the game, and back to the internet again in order to upvote the plane.
On desktop, such a system isn't that tedious, but for devices running android and IOS it can be.
Anyway, having an in game upvote system would mean you're cutting off the last step (going back to the internet to upvote the plane), which could encourage people to upvote more.
@Squirrel wot .-.
I've put this one suggestion forward many times as I presume other people have, but I think an in game upvote system would go a long way in terms of helping to achieve more upvotes.
@Flightsonic Ya :D
Well not all downloads are from people with an account, and it counts how many times the download button is clicked, but with some revising thats a good idea
@JosephB2001 @Tully2001 ^O^
Yes, a good idea :)
@deusalgor 0.5 to low, I think 1-2 is reasonable.
5-10 is too much, I think. May be 1-2 or even 0.5.
@NovaTopaz
Hahaha yeah but its all we had to work with.
@dsr1aviation And then there was time time way way way back when, when even the upvote system didn't exist. Back then, it was getting praise from the reddit community that mattered. But honestly, that still does happen on occasion, and is still a good way to get your airplane noticed.
And yeah, ze aircraft of old are UGLY.
Yeah i know :p
@dsr1aviation Oh dear god they're ugly xD
@dsr1aviation Ahh.
It was a star based system up to 5 stars. So it was kinda easier but this sustem was implemented because of the same problem we are having now. No one rated planes but the community was substantially smaller. So it was still possible to rank up with a few good followers who liked your stuff. Go look at my earlier stuff, its not pretty lol. Anyway i just think there needs to be some kind of way to motivate people to upvote when they like the looks and/or performance of a build. Otherwise we will probably just end up going in circles ):
.3. @dsr1aviation
@dsr1aviation How did you get points before the upvote system?
Its easier to just upvote, but then not many people upvote planes. The points system in place works ok you just have to find a way of standing out. I was able to do so early on before this upvote system was implemented and that is why im gold. My points dont skyrocket anymore but i still have followers from all the help and builds i give to the community:) forget the points friend as it only holds you back from building to your best. Still upvote because, well Karma lol :)
