This is the reality of our lives. Everyday we go to work, school, or any other place on this earth with thoughts in out mind. Other people would think clear, got one thing on their mind, not much to do, but everywhere I go, there's the constant thought in my head. War. Now this isn't a story, but I go anywhere with the thought of war in my head, the consequences of it, what can happen. Now sure kids today are glad to live, have friends, and be free. Think... In about 10 years what's gonna happen...? War, battles, depression, poverty. As much as I love war, war will end us. We live in a world of war. We have nuclear war ready to drop doom upon us all, we have hunger in Africa, and viruses going around. What's gonna happen. You can all agree with me when I say, no matter your age, no matter your race, we are going to end ourselves. Kids in the old days could go outside, walk to the park, hang out with friends and be perfectly fine. Nowadays kids can't even walk outside without the threat of rape, kidnapping, fights, and death... It hurts me to see innocent kids being shot to death because someone has a problem with their PARENTS. Or a fictional character well known for its games being used as a reason for a kid to be stabbed over 10 times.. What has happened...
The real question of extinction (my view at least) is very scientific.
Basically, technology is advancing. Humans have such technology that they probably will not go extinct naturally. However, many people believe that the next eon will begin when Humans become more machine than human. The question is, are these still humans, or are humans now extinct? The machine-humanoids will be practically immortal, too.

In 50 years society is estimated to crumble if we don't make changes in how everyone in the world is living and new scientific breakthroughs .... There's much worse to come sadly
not to dampen the mood but, one of the sentences reminded me of The Major's speech from Hellsing. . . . . . . . Now on a serious note i agree with you. every now and then i think about the world around me and see nothing but death, violence and hatred.
Because it's harder to blow up dozens of planets and destroy a race then to kill a single race in a single planet
Once we move to space and establish colonies there We will live in almost garunteed peace
