Just about any warbird enthusiast ( and even most non-enthusiasts) know about the Supermarine Spitfire. However, I fould an interesting variant of the Mk.V that sports the famous elliptical wings, but with the tips cut off.
Supposedly this increases roll speed, but decreases pitch speed? The drawbacks and benefits were pretty equal though (there were other changes that the clipped wings provided).
.
Most warbird enthusiasts also know about the equally attractive P-38 Lightning. Again, I found an interesting variant that was adapted for night fighting (they were nicknamed Night Lightnings). They have two seats, and the guns also appear to have muzzle flash guards to keep the pilot from being blinded. They also had a radar, visible on the nose.
.
Finally, there was a beautiful night fighter built by Germany called the Focke-Wulf Ta-154 Moskito. It was structurally unsound due to the lack of good glue (the allies had bombed them a lot at this point), and it never really succeeded. However, given more time (and better glue), this plane could have been a common sight. Here it is:
.
Overall, these aircraft are pretty interesting and I hope someone makes them!

Clipped wing Spitfires and Night Lightnings?

@Wahoo12 yeah, kinda sad that I screwed it up, but I have learned alot since then. If you are a scale modelor, a good website to chechk out is ARC.com
@PlanesGuy888 haha, I found out about it from a model I am about to build... I'm thinking about going for the day fighter though.
@Wahoo12 I am a scalable modeler and an airplane buff and I made a 1:48 scale model of the night lightning. It was a fun model, but I screwed it up and now it looks horrible.
@Skua haha
@Wahoo12 cliiiiiiiiipped
@Skua yeah haha
I do like the clipped wings too... I have a mk. v model with an option between the clipped wings and the elliptical wings... I dont know which to choose!
@Wahoo12 the high-altitude one never saw much action, really. It was intended to take on high-altitude bombers that turned out to not be much of a threat, and at more ordinary altitudes, the larger wings made for a less-agile plane. Fortunately we're not at war any more, we can pick whatever we like the look of haha
@Skua That makes a a lot of sense. Honestly, I'm not sure which one i'd choose... probably the high altitude one because altitude can be life.
Regarding that clipped-wing Spitfire: it increases roll rate because it makes the wings narrower (less rotational inertia), but it comes at the cost of a higher wing loading, which made high-altitude performance suffer. The clipped wings were usually found on the L.F. models, which also had engines optimised for low-altitude flight. An opposite version, of sorts, had longer and more pointed wingtips for high-altitude flight.
Clipped wings look best, though, I'll take them any day!
Ok I'll get to work on the P-38 soon @Wahoo12
@DeezDucks Sounds good!
@Wahoo12 Right now working on a Hawker Fury
@DeezDucks @Mrwhiskers85 Cant wait to see it!
I've been putting off building the Ta-154 for a while. Maybe its time to give it a go.
Thinking of building the Moskito
@MrSilverWolf I always preferred the P-38 as a pure fighter lol
Plus, more planes added
When I do the P-38 do you want unguided rocket pods on it or not?
Well I will try to get around to do it some time because I'm terrible at making camouflages so I'm might try the lightning
Challenged accepted!
