Ask questions to make your builds better

431 ODINxKANE  8.8 years ago

I want to start a post where people of all skill levels can come and ask questions about building, people can post building tips, and help can be found fo those of us who have racked our brains trying to figure out something. What i dont want to see happen is people asking for upvotes... They will hopefully come after building an awesome creation after getting some help on this post :)

1st question...
how are people getting pannel lines on aircraft?

2nd question...
How do you get decals on the aircraft?

@ODINxKANE Modding support is already here, completely, it's JUST uploading the mods to the Steam Workshop (and using workshop for downloading) that's in beta.

However real modding is far more complex than XML editing, and for cases that XML editing can solve you should generally just do that...

XML editing is pretty simple, just go into your aircraft designs folder (on PC this is %USERPATH%/AppData/LocalLow/Jundroo/SimplePlanes/AircraftDesigns), open the plane file you want to XML edit (for example, __editor__.xml is the plane that is in the SP designer, or whatever-you-saved-the-plane-as.xml), in any text editor (notepad will work, notepad++ is better because it's got highlighting and formatting, and yes it's free), then find the part you want to edit (the part at the bottom will generally be the latest added, or mirrored), and edit the value you want to change.
It will take some experimenting to know what everything does, but here are some notes by @WalrusAircraft from a while ago that are still valid.
