Hey so I am somewhat new to the simple planes community. I have already made some planes but I don't get many downloads or upvotes. I know that getting those isnot the point as i do enjoy making my planes and downloading others but I would like to make things that others will enjoy as well.

try to create replicas of real planes (or cars, or a rubber duck) and try to add some details, that usually works. and the most important, be patient and perseverant, if people can notice your effort in that upload, it will get a lot of attention. good luck boy :)

Unfortunately it's the nature of the game, it can be very difficult to get attention at first. A few things account for it. Firstly, to actually get someone's attention amongst the hundreds of other new planes is already quite an achievement. Even if they do try it, a lot of people will either forget to come back and upvote, or just don't care enough.
Good ways to get points early on are the tournaments and the various user-run contests about the site. These can help you build up a bit of a following.
