A love letter between two lovers.

Dear Abigail Collins,

How is things with your parents? I heard they're not happy that you are with me, but what other option is there? I find it ridiculous that anyone would make rules on who you can and cannot love. Perhaps we can live with my parents in Dragot when this war is over. They are ecstatic to hear about you, and cannot wait to see you. I assure you that they won't be disappointed.

Heard you got promoted to inspector. I'm sure you'll be promoted to foreman in no time. You do have an eye for detail, that's for sure. If you do become a foreman, I suppose we may even have enough money to buy a house and grow old together. That thought brings warmth to my heart.

You ask me all the time what it is like to fly ground attack missions. What I can say is that when you close in, the ground turns to fire. It is as if Heaven was set alight. Tracers fly around from every direction; from ahead, behind, above, and below. Round after round strikes your plane, and you wonder how long your plane will hold together before it breaks. Thank the engineers for the Buzz Birds for keeping those missiles grounded, or we'd be goners.

Whenever I am with you, I feel magical. The thought of us together sends my heart racing and my brain dreamy. Perhaps it is just hormones like they said in Health class long ago. But it feels so much more complex and deeper than the body dumping chemicals in our brains. It is no wonder why love is such a mystery.

By the time you receive this letter, it will be two months before my tour is up and I can return home. I miss you very much, darling. My heart pains for a moment with you. But I figured the faster this war is done, the faster I can see you.
