There are so many airplanes on the website that claim to be a type of military plane, like an interceptor or fighter or bomber, then have really weird and mismatched weapons on them. That's not really a bad thing, but I feel like it kind of defeats the purpose of calling an airplane something that corresponds with an objective it can't carry out very well. And it really refines and adds a sense of realism to your plane if you equip it with the right loadout. So I have set up the following list of aircraft classes, then briefly summarized their correct armament.

FIGHTER
A few wing cannons and a balance between interceptor and guardian missiles.

INTERCEPTOR
One or two wing cannons with only long-range interceptor missiles.

BOMBER
One or two wing cannons, maybe a minigun turret, with bombs.

HEAVY FIGHTER
Several wing cannons, focus on short-range guardian missiles.

GROUND ATTACK
Assorted guns, mostly inferno missiles and bombs, maybe a couple self defense missiles.

RECONNAISSANCE
Very lightly armed or completely unarmed.

WWI - WII ERA

FIGHTER
A few wing guns.

INTERCEPTOR
Only one or two wing guns.

BOMBER
One or two forward-firing wing guns, several outward- or rear-firing guns. And bombs.

HEAVY FIGHTER
Go nuts with the wing guns.

GROUND ATTACK
Again, many, many wing guns, alongside a few bombs.

RECONNAISSANCE
One forward-firing cannon.
