So recently I decides to revisit my nostalgia place, and watch some G1 transformers, I then noticed how I may be able to build an g1 Optimus prime in the this games with rotators, but I need joints, like ball joints, and stuff, so I need partners, anyone want to sign up?
@NovaTopaz
Hmmm, I'll try something.
@Supercraft888 Lever joint is already a thing, and very reliable. Ball and socket... That's a bit more complicated. Pretty much what I've said so far(unless you want it as an elbow joint for an arm if it has a ball and socket joint, and a lot less explody than doing it for the hip... shivers. Simply use one for rotation and one to move up-down, and you offically have a rudimentary socket joint, and probably a lot less likely to explode on you, given it's an open design with an arm. Not too much of an issue with it colliding with stuff. In fact, you could probably do it without XML if you use nudge controls. Could also work for the shoulders, to a point.
@NovaTopaz
Umm, both
@Supercraft888 Wait... Elbow... A lever joint? Or are you referring to a ball and socket joint(basically what you said in the description)?
@NovaTopaz
Yeah but what plane would use elbow joints?
@Supercraft888 You could suggest it for an update, though.
@NovaTopaz
Oh, ok....gues elbow joints are out of the question
@Supercraft888 Probably, but like I said, it would be kinda annoying, as well as a bit explodey if there is any part collisions that will rub on other parts. Experienced it with my YF-23. Not fun.
@NovaTopaz
Could you clip 3 rotators into each other to make like a joystick sort of thing?
Hmm... Ball joints would be very hard(TBH, I've thought of how multi-point rotation could be done, but ball joints I think are beyond the capability of current rotators unless you want to use fairly complex XML editing)
I might
Maybe
Hehe balls...
