So this applies to the wheels in the steam beta as of current.
To start the suspension. there needs to be a "fixed" option to them. there needs to be an option that makes them fixed to their joint with no movement what so ever. its messing up a lot of suspension setups.
Secondly. tire grip. the normal tire type is fine as far as I can see. but During my testings with the tires I found something. This may or may not applly to street setting as well but I'm going to focus on offroad. tehy have too much grip while under power. if your car lifts any of those wheels and you don't immedietly cut the thrust. the wheel wil land spinning faster than the ground its touching and launch that part forward causing a ton of flipping. because the wheel has no slip to it. it doesn't matter if its still going the same direction or sideways to where you're moving it does this. it has too much grip. the normal tires I used as a counter test. in my tests on the unlockable Rattlesnake Racetrack using hte stock little bugger (with the wheels new suspension sliders maxed out). and here are my results. with the defualt off road tires. I would have to hold 50% thrust and cut the throttle if I spun out a little bit or I'd go flipping. i'd have to heavily manage my throttle and keep it straight otherwise the wheels would grip the ground heavily when they landed and flip me outo of control. On the other hand the normal wheels acted much better. I was able to hold 100% thrust almost the entire way. bumps and wheels lifting dind't do any thing as the wheel would slip before applying its traction again like it should. if I were to spin sideways It wouldn't just shoot as soon as the wheels touched the ground again. it would still lose control but to an extent that was completly reasonable. just cutting throttle turning back forward and going again would fix it unlike the flipping spaz that the off road wheels would have. while the wheel is being powered. while you have no power applied to the wheels tthere is only a slight difference where the offroad would have more grip as it should but it works fine. Power adding grip or difference in speed of wheel vs terain its hitting not reducing inital grip seems to be an issue right now. Normal type wheels are not immune to this problem its just less relevant to them as those wheels do have some leeway.
@AndrewGarrison Well I'm sure you can figure something out. Hope My feed back has helped. just to clarify. that Over traction only happens when the wheel is moving faster with the power on it. it will cause it to just shoot that wheel and in turn the rest of the craft forward in a flip.
@Typhlosion130 okay, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I can't isolate the suspension from the wheels. Wheel simulation requires a suspension component and I've never seen any implementations that can do without.
@AndrewGarrison I just did this testing today. and well need a fixed option on the wheels so they don't have an individual suspension if you don't want them too. and the off road wheels (and assumibly street) are too grippy on their preferred surfaces.
We just pushed a new beta today (v1.4.0.3), please let me know what you think of the changes.
