1.4.0.4
Patch notes for this update - v1.4.0.5
- Fixed issue with resizable wheels losing traction on inclines
- Improved behaviour of resizable wheels with disabled suspension
- Reduced wheel bounciness on big planes
- Removed EnableColliders from Wheel XML (not sure if anyone was even using this, but it has been superseded by Part disableAircraftCollisions attribute)
- Added disableBaseMesh attribute to JointRotators XML so you can disable that mesh,
- Fixed an issue where level progress might not be saved in some scenarios.
- Improved performance of windmills on Maywar island.
- Disabled windmills on Maywar on Low terrain quality.
- Jet engines' and VTOL ports' exhaust colors are XML-moddable.
@AndrewGarrison found a bug. the edges of the entire Avalance Airport runway and the road at the entrance of the hangars in Yaeger is not collidable.
and, viewing the Yaeger Airport at the southwest will make its lines/designs disappear.
@AndrewGarrison You're welcome!
@SpiritusRaptor Hard to say, so much has changed. I would just recommend testing out your builds and see if they have any issues. I'm sure your followers will let you know if any of your designs are broken!
@JovianPat Good catch. Thanks.
removed Removed EnableColliders from Wheel XML I need it now.
@DragonAerotech That's quite alright. Beefy landing gear is what I was kinda looking for.
Quick question - will earlier Beta builds need to be rebuilt or the new changes will take affect on all parts?
Minor bug : In slow motion mode, the resizable wheels still turn at normal speed. This doesn't affect gameplay or anything, but it looks a bit weird...
Hey Devs, thank you so much for fixing the traction bug! The wheels and suspensions are getting more stable now.
@AndrewGarrison OK, that would be helpful.
@AndrewGarrison Thank you!
@BeryllCorp Of course. Here's an example:
<Part id="5" partType="SmallRotator-1" position="0,0,0 materials="0,3,10">
<InputController.State activationGroup="0" invert="false" min="-1" max="1" input="VTOL" />
<JointRotator.State range="90" speed="0.5" disableBaseMesh="true" />
</Part>
@AndrewGarrison BTW, THANK YOU for implementing the minimum length of parts down to 0.25 as requested now I can make all the different national insignia I want! That'll allow me to delete a few dozen subassemblies alone. XD
Round fuselages ;D
there are a few problems like wheels going through the ground with suspension and driving at ant terrain fells like driving on ice, but mostly the update works great.
@AndrewGarrison How do we use this new code? can you give an example?
@JMicah4 The disableAircraftCollisions attribute can be used in a Part tag in the XML to prevent it from hitting other parts. This provides a way to make retractable landing gear with the new resizable wheels, shocks, and rotators. By setting this to true for those parts, they can safely retract up into the fuselage of the plane without exploding.
@BeryllCorp Yep, and thanks!
@PhilipTarpley may I ask what does disable aircraft collisions do?
@DragonAerotech or can we?
Added disableBaseMesh attribute to JointRotators XML so you can disable that mesh
Does this include the Hinged Rotators?
Great job at fixing the wheels!
@Flightsonic I hope so. I expected the ship parts update before the car parts update to be honest, not that I am complaining. ;)
@Dredex Don't get terribly excited - we still can't go below the standard sized wheels already available so unless we build on a larger scale realistic tailwheels are still a ways off. :(
The directional compass is a great add. A Map of sorts would still be great, keep the aspect of discovery by the map being reveled only after you've flown over the area and "charted it" that way we could build a long range reconnaissance plane to map out the simple planes world and direct other aircraft towards them
Now does this mark the beginning of huge updates? Maybe, who knows
