Now I release this won't be put in the 1.4x updates but I do think this would be a nice feature for the final 1.5 update. Unlock mode would be similar to science mode in kerbal space program where you have horizontal level ups. These level ups would be tied to your account and unlock new features like adding a bio, plane folders, shorter upvote cool down etc. But it doesn't stop there. The semi-horizontal growth comes in game where you can unlock different parts of aspects of parts. Like buoyancy on fuse blocks, how big wings can be, float blocks etc. This would get rid of xml editing in this mode yet the sandbox mode would still be available for creating planes for the public. You would unlock levels by completing new and exsisting missions with only the few parts you start out with (ideally blocks, small jet, wedge, primary wings and stabilizers. [no structural wings to start out with]) and progress through the levels and unlock all the parts and other stuff. I think this would be really good to broaden the base to players who like progress in the game and might put some fire on building planes for fun and to complete challenges and unlock everything. Just a thought, thanks for your patience.
This leads to being able to buy locations, leading to pay to win. I don't really like the idea of P2W in SP
@AeroEngineering but its separate XD
Hey, I used to be a white user until my last creation got featured literally 5 minutes after I uploaded it, so they give you a good break if you deserve it I guess. But yeah I agree my first few post got lost in newest. @CanofBeans
I agree with stuff tied to your online account. However, I disagree with unlockable stuff. If u can t xml mod,in done. I'll have to use subassemblies or go find some other game
@CanofBeans yes i agree, which is why shortening the upvote cooldown for those designs that aren't meant to be downloaded could be upvoted quicker.
@Nickasaurus Now that I think about it, if all white users had those restrictions and most of us don't comb through the newest section looking for promising users, I'd say most higher tiered users wouldn't see those aircraft or even acknowledge them as promising or special. It's like why most biplanes during and after WWI looked so similar. Everyone had came to the same conclusions concerning the shape and specs of aircraft that they made so similar airplanes just to be the best. I fear that if this were to have taken effect, after a while, most white users would know what designs to make and score a lil upvotes from. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, I'm saying that it will have some problems.
@CanofBeans but it is just a side mode... and since your above white it wouldn't affect you. it would just be there as some fun missions where you had to use what they give you to start off.
how bout no. I like being able to see my arsenal of stuff. Games where you have to unlock items to build with, while it is gratifying when you unlock something, makes me really really impatient.
Oh. Ok. I understand now. That would be a good idea. An unlock mode.
@bspboy its not getting rid of any freedom, its adding another mode that had fun missions on it. again you have to get to bronze. just to make people strive to get upvotes before trying to put their planes out there for youtubers. this literally wouldn't affect any of us. since we are all above bronze.
@BroPlanes true, that part was up in the air when i typed it down but included it just because id like to see those things added anyways. @UnstableOrbit its a separate mode! it would just be something to play through on the side. id like to see some missions that let you unlock things. and the sandbox mode would still be available.
Cut out any and ALL mentions of the unlocks adding perks to your account, and you will have my support. Added perks to accounts shouldn't be something you can unlock by playing through a "campaign," because what if you just want to be a sandbox player? I agree that maybe there needs to be a system where you have to have more time ingame in order to have full use of your account(would weed out nubs) but tying it to a campaign is a no-go. Also, don't mess with the upvote cooldown; its there for a reason.
This sounds great. Something like this would definitely smash the interest rating for the game despite it already being eye candy. Wonderful!
However this should be a separate part of the game. It's sandbox shouldn't be taken away whatsoever.
I like the idea on the plane folders and biodata and shorter upvote cool down. But about the rest? I don't like it since, to gain the freedom to create you still need to do things for like, granted?
I don't agree with this: "The semi-horizontal growth comes in game where you can unlock different parts of aspects of parts. Like buoyancy on fuse blocks, how big wings can be, float blocks etc." Not trying to be at all mean
No
like switch back and forth
oh and be able to do normal mode and this mode
@Nickasaurus i think this is a great idea i would like it
Well, this is kinda supposed to be a sandbox game, right? I like the freedom of it. That would take away that freedom and instead tie it down with chains and begin tortuing it.
@Brields95 All things considered, they don't know what game they will be making next, so there may possibly be something like that. No promises on any kind of thing, but I know a while ago with the new game they were planning, they had no idea what it was going to be... So anything is possible.
This seems more suitable for a full sequal to SimplePlanes, which I don't see happening. Good idea though, as long as at least all the parts from SimplePlanes and a half are carried into the first tear of the game.
@Nickasaurus Ah, I understand now. Maybe they could include a little warning video teaching newbies not to copy and post planes named after YouTubers, as well as a general overview of the rules
@Umbreon the points are separate from the levels in thinking of. The idea that bronze unlocks sandbox mode is there so that people have to make good planes inside the unlock mode. Then the unlock mode would help teach the basics of the game before being free to build planes and upload them to the community.
@Nickasaurus Yeah, but I think it's best to just avoid that can of worms. Also, what would happen to the users who already have many points, such as yourself.
