How to improve SP

32.0k Exumer  8.7 years ago

Here are a bunch of suggestions to make SP a bit more user friendly, or easy to use.

1)A button to delete all sub-assemblies. I think this might be helpful, because, over time, I have realized that subs can get a bit overflowed with junk, so it might be helpful to take out what you need, and just deleting everything, instead of taking the time to filter through everything. I might also want to address the problem when you delete a sub, and you going back to the top, making deleting group of subs a hassle.

2)Rotation options. Rotating parts on the spot will help building a ton, possibly reducing the number of mod requests. This will probably work like any other thing in SP, being a slider, with a number on top with increments of 10, or something.

3)Typing in numbers. Typing in the numbers you want for any adjustable aspect of an object, including rotation, can help the building community a ton, especially for smaller sized projects, and very detail-oriented projects. This can also cut down on mod requests.

4)Assigning VTOL nozzles and RCNs to VTOL engines. Just like car engines, the same concept can be applied to VTOL nozzles and RCNs. This can help with aspects of a build that need only a select nozzle/RCN of group of nozzles/RCNs to do a job, especially if other engines have different amounts of power to them.

5)Adjusting the power of engines. Working like prop engines, adjusting the power of engines can be very helpful for larger planes and builds that just need a bit more power.

6)More options for the wheels. Other than just being resizable, why not make them customizable? This includes rim size and form. Like the number of spokes, and the style they're in. These can vary from two straight spokes at 3 (whatever the size scale is for SP) to 10 curved spokes at 1 (whatever the size scale is for SP).This can really help the style of the wheel and stuff like that.

7)Searching in the forums. Just because.

8)Detailed painting. For projects that need decals, but they are curved and you don't have the parts to do it.-by PINK

Please consider these suggestions in the development of the game, and for others, give some suggestions in the comments, I might just include them in the post.

@Exumer HellFireKoder already made a rotation mod, plus someone already mentioned it.

HellFireKoder made a mod that allows you to rotate parts in the editor without having to go into the XML

I really like 2,3,4 and 7. They all would make the game so much more interesting and give everyone access to most of the stuff only people who edit XML can do now. 1 however would probably be more of a scary "don't push the red button" kind of option, because a lot of subs that I have I've put a lot of time into and I'm not up for remaking all of them because I accidentally pushed a button. I don't think 8 would be good, because it would make the game really complex and making decals out of fuse blocks is an art in it of itself. 6 seems a little too cosmetic to be bothered with, when the devs are overflowing with new stuff they're trying to add to the game, and 5 wouldn't do much when most people have subs with modded engines or at least know where to find them. Overall pretty great ideas though!

@PINK yeah...I was just thinking of like, making a nosecone on the front of the plane an intake. But I guess that can be helpful. Personally, I have mastered the art of shoving intakes behind fake ones to make it work.

No, not really...it would work as a normal intake...drag and place meant would afect it...you can just change its size and syling. @Exumer

@PINK well, SP is a simulation game, where you need to solve problems to make your plane fly, and I think making the front of a fuselage into an intake would defeat that purpose.
