I don't know if this has been suggested before or not, but I wonder how hard it would be to add a mod or a feature to the game that would give you a semi transparent view to aid in nudging parts. I use nudge like crazy and I find it difficult sometimes to keep things balanced if mirror will not allow my to do so. Having the ability to ghost everything else by about 50% and leaving the part selected solid would give you a nice tool for keeping things neat. Parts would only go transparent if they are toughing the selected part. If a part is Selected and has something else nudged in side it would go transparent to reveal it. I don't know it was just a thought.
