it didn't have any weapons i was using a airliner and it just dive bombed me blew me up and well that's it really i was just taxing and it smashed in to me!@Skua

That's actually not them attacking, they just try to make close flybys occasionally because it's more fun. They will attack just like they do in dogfights (so attempting to hit you with any missiles and guns they may have) if you get a missile lock on them, though.
