OVERVIEW:
The GP-146 is an exceptionally slow and large aircraft, but has great maneuverability even under load and possesses a large array of firepower. In addition, the type is exceptionally well-protected, exceeding even the Pummeler. However, the aforementioned low speed and large size makes it quite vulnerable to ground fire and require aircraft tractors to maneuver into position.
COMBAT PERFORMANCE:
The aircraft's range under a full combat load is considered amazing. The bad forward visibility does not allow the pilot to acquire, target, and ultimately destroy the target.
The flaps and spoilers attached to VTOL as well as the airbrakes attached to the Trim control was especially liked.
INTEGRAL FIREPOWER:
The eight Mk 9 cannon in addition to eight Mk 2 machine guns provide exceptional firepower against armored and unarmored targets, and is considered superior to the Pummeler or the Boar.
EXTERNAL LOADS:
The external weapons load is superior to the Pummeler, and comparable to the Boar. All hardpoints are easy to access and load.
DURABILITY:
The type was a very sturdy design, with exceptional survivability due to the strong airframe and a high number of redundancy built into the design.
VISIBILITY:
Cockpit visibility much better than the Pummeler, but is worse than the Boar.
LOGISTICS:
The use of the T2000 engine with Mk 5 propeller made logistics easy. However, the large size of the aircraft made servicing the engines difficult, and despite its good performance, its large size is viewed as a hindrance to logistics.
OFF THE BOOKS:
The aircraft has earned the nickname "Boxkite" after its distinctive appearance.
