SO! I just thought of a game today.
Originally, PM '39 was supposed to be a Cities: Skylines mode, but of course the idea was shot down very quickly.
The idea of the game is to put the player in the chair of Prime Minister Churchill himself through the years between 1939 and 1945. In the game, you'll build up London like you do in a city building game, which is why that's what it was supposed to be for. Anyway, you keep the British civilians happy(ish), healthy and safe, sending resources to air forces, ground installations like A.A.A and radar, bases, airfields and ground troops (who come in later).
If you can survive the five years of non-stop onslaught, as a final hurrah, the 3rd Reich will then be knocking on your door- and how many show up is dependent on how well you defend Britain from the air. It's a sort of two-tier defense beginning with the air and then on land.
If you can hold off this attack, your score will be saved and displayed for all to see. If you fail-- well..... You fail.
The difficulty comes in where the Germans begin bombing you day and night, nearly 24/7 all around Britain, and your cities begin to crumble.
Not only the constant bombardment of metal and morale, but you take it day-by-day. It's not a weekly, monthly or yearly report-- it's daily. You have to micromanage everything to keep everything afloat and hope the wolf packs stay away from your ship convoys to and from the U.S.
Convoys can be invaluble, so I'm thinking of adding in a sort of a bombing campaign/escort mission aspect to protect said convoys and start picking off sub pens.
Well, what do you think? Would you buy this as a game?
Also--- I uhm... I know the basics of sprite-sheet making and such, but I'm at a loss for programming. Do any of you know anyone who might be interested in helping this little experiment?
Thanks <3 :3
@KnightOfAraluen XD Nah not quite. That's the murder-mystery sci-fi action adventure comedy drama uber-complex crew management game, 'Pangaea'.
@OtterOfToast How about a way to fly to other galaxies in the game ;)
jk
@KnightOfAraluen Nah. Infinity.
@OtterOfToast The furthest away you could get, at least with our tech, is mars.
@MikuKat Oh. Well, come to think of it, it's in the same continent. Europe :P The farthest you could get is somewhere in Central America.
@OtterOfToast You said "@KnightOfAraluen Hey, Rome wasn't built it a day ;3"
@MikuKat What does Rome have to do with it? XD
@OtterOfToast This is as far away from rome as you can get
@OtterOfToast Ok, that makes sense.
@KnightOfAraluen I was thinking something a little more realistic from Churchill's PoV. You order the construction of airfields and base a number of units there. Those units, if they have the radar coverage, will act on their own, and depending how big the attacking force is and how many aircraft units you have lining their path, that will decide how many aircraft survive and how much damage a city or installation takes.
@OtterOfToast So would there be any commanding where they go/what they do, or are the battles just preset and based on chance? Number of planes compared to the number of enemy planes gives the chances of the overall win.
@KnightOfAraluen Make planes. Planes go and fight. More planes means less enemy planes. The more planes survive, the more veteran crew come later.
@OtterOfToast How would combat work?
@KnightOfAraluen Okay-- bye I guess :P
@OtterOfToast K. I am going to need to leave for now. See you later
@KnightOfAraluen Not at all T_T
@OtterOfToast So not Tropico?
@KnightOfAraluen Guh- I'm sorry but Iv'e heard that response I good could THOUSAND times....
@OtterOfToast What about Tropico? Those games have more to them than the sims do, and they are harder.
@KnightOfAraluen Aye sounds good. I'm thinking a sort of isometric deal like SimCity 2000 was--- only looking cleaner and the UI being more intuitive.
@OtterOfToast True :) We would just need to keep in touch.
@KnightOfAraluen Hey, Rome wasn't built it a day ;3
@OtterOfToast If you ever need ideas, I could help. I will also start programming in about 1 year. Not the best of timing, but I can help then if you ever needed it.
@KnightOfAraluen That is true-- I like that point. I'll keep that in mind. I'll definitely throw in plenty of events and happenings to mix everything up all the way from "Yay, some kid ran a scrap drive and got you x-ammount of materials!" to "Oh crap, they nailed the oil fields!! You're buggered, m8!" How many weeks in 6 years? I want this game to be looong and grueling OwO
And as for price, I was thinking somewhere low, like 6 - 10 dollars at most. Not all that much for such a long game. Difficulty wise, I sort of want it to be like FTL, but in WW2 as Britain XD
my rateing 9/10 too much water
