@TheOwlAce People with a lot of time, grand imaginations or just prolific builders. Back when I was big into model building I was lucky to finish a dozen in a year because I liked to scratch build somewhat accurate interiors, add white metal aftermarket guns rather than the crap that came with the kit and so on. All seams had to be invisible or I wasn't satisfied. If it had rivet detail I'd sand them flush and use a hypodermic needle to make recessed rivets. If panel lines were raised, I'd sand them off and rescribe them. If recessed but inaccurate I'd fill them, depending on the kit, and scribe new ones. If the tires were inaccurate I'd either mould my own from resin, resort to the spares bin, or purchase aftermarket replacements. Even then I couldn't compete against award winning model builders. Their criteria is accuracy, detail and weathering effects (which I'm only okay at accomplishing.)
Here the criteria follows; Numbers, appearance, detail and functionality - loosely in that order. My own is still detail and appearance but it has to retain decent functionality. I still don't release many creations per week. If I knew more about how to make proper interiors and such here you probably would see me release a build every few weeks or every couple of months! lol
Look at the builds I made intended for our RP, I changed things up with the camo, gave them a scarlet crown marking and the fuselage band. Some of those got some fair votes others were scarcely noticed...shrugs.
@DragonAerotech Really rank doesnt mean anymore. Im watching a guy get to 20k in a month and he came from nowhere. Ive been here for a year an am still learning.
@TheOwlAce True, but you get down to the grit of it; Human nature. Let me ask this, did you like the colorful squadron markings of the 1980s for USN aircraft more or less than modern low visibility markings? Regardless of your' answer most would say they liked the more colorful insignia.
In Europe, in your' setting, there are many imperial powers. There's a delicate power balance there that could easily be tripped. If war comes anti-aircraft gunners will have to ID aircraft flying overhead. At 3 miles in the sky its hard to make out what's what - especially if their aircraft have darkly painted undersurfaces. How do you tell the difference when radar and IFF are still essentially in their infancy? I'm not going to tell you to change what you do, c'mon man you're a gold member with 12.9k so you're obviously doing something right. Meanwhile I've been playing for months and am still a silver member at 4.3k.
@TheOwlAce I don't know that it's the design per se as the markings, color scheme, etc. We've established that your's performs better after all. While you often include fin flash, the monotone colors and lack of additional markings often works against you and many others who build genuinely good stuff.
They're doing amazing
@Gestour cant remember his nane but i do remember seeing him get that high in the ranks within a month.
Who are you talking about?
The guy you're watching get to 20k in a month? @TheOwlAce
@TheOwlAce I know, I joined a year ago. I sort of gave up but please don't, I really like your planes!

@DragonAerotech Its just that its a uniform color for the airforce and less marking s the better, less drag.

@DragonAerotech Seems people like your adaptation of my fighter more than the original thing.
