I have finally found out how to make vtol's easily.
1. Make the fuselage. Add all the details you are going to want.
2. Add the wings. Getting the lift in position is very important.
3. Add the engines. It doesnt matter what engines you use, as long as they are pointed up. Get the col as close to the com as possible. Propellors tend to be harder than jet engines, but that is just my experience.
4. Add fuel to the fuselage to get the com just in front of the col. This make it tip forwards, but then backwards once it starts to move forwards.
Taking off - Wait for the vtol to start tipping upwards, and then make the engines face forwards. If it doesnt work, tweak the com, but not the col. The com is easier to position, as it only requires adding or removing fuel/dead weight.
I hope this helps anyone who doesnt know how to make vtols. This has always worked for me, but if it doesnt work for you, just ask for help.
@KnightOfAraluen oh then this doesn't help me
@MechWARRIOR57 No. It wont work if you try to hover, but it is good for an easy tale off.
Is this good for planes meant to hover?
@TheRubyArmy1134 It usually doesnt work for me. Putting it slightly behind has been a bit more reliable.
What about making the COT directly on the COM?
@Warmelon No problem.
Exactly what I need. thanks!
@Delphinus Thanks.
