No when you get really high the air is so thin and you can barely control your plane, but Gravity is always with you.
There is no space in SP, so you can't really make a "Space location". The only way you can somewhat make your own space is flying up high and making it nighttime.

Simple rockets 2 is coming out later which you will be able to make space planes in...... It will look a bit similar to KSP
