Some clarity was needed, regarding what is considered retaliation in response to being blocked, as well as the overall nature of blocking in general. If anybody has additional questions or concerns, let us know below in the comments.
The official website rules have been updated, and you can read them all here. Below, you can read the new section added today:
BLOCKING PLAYERS IS OKAY
It is every player’s right to block whomever they wish for whatever reasons they wish.
Being blocked by a user in no way hampers your ability to enjoy the game or this website. If someone blocks you, be a better person and simply move on.
If you retaliate in response to being blocked, then you will be banned. Do not post or comment about a player who blocked you, about a specific player who blocked a friend of yours, or about a specific incident about specific people involved in blocking one another.
@joeysellers oh ok thanks!
@GT3TobyRS Near the "REPLY" button in every comment is another button that gives you other options, including blocking that specific player.
@joeysellers how do you block players anyway?
All I ment was if someone blocks you you should at least know why so you know what you did to get blocked anyway I don't surpose you know where I can get some modded air brakes to fit on one of my planes ?@joeysellers
@CALVIN232 If someone blocks you, be a better person and simply move on. Don't ask why, don't dirty your hands and sling mud, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Just move on.
If you block the entire commuterty then who's left you won't have anyone to talk to@DarkLithium
Jelly I know your probably gonna filp but he was the one who told me about this amazing game I don't build him planes but do understand that I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him @DarkLithium
If say someone blocks you are you allowed to ask why?@joeysellers
Unfortunately, no. Not on this website. Just realize that some people may have reasons that don't make sense to you, and move on. People come and go, and one less person to interact with here won't mean much in the long run. It may be difficult not to take it personally.. but it's best to move on. @GrimMantis
@joeysellers say you find out someone blocked you, is it okay to ask why so a player can improve on them self so they can improve?
@TehDuck click the lil arrow next to the reply button.
@DarkLithium I don't think we need to reign with an iron fist. Things have improved considerably in the community, regarding politics and gossip, since the introduction of the blocking feature.
.
It's true that with blocking, you do it yourself and you are only one person. But everybody else also has this power. Essentially, giving the power to the people, to let you guys create the boundaries you prefer in this community, individually. Mods will have less work to do, and us devs can focus on what we'd rather be doing: making games.
.
Also.. as far as updates go.. expect something very soon.
@joeysellers My best solution is to just deal with it. The drama has died down, but is still there. So instead of giving us a side-step solution to a major problem, you just charge it head on. Anytime some brings up Jelly or some other youtuber that caused a massive drama flux. Ban them for "x" amount of time, if these requires a massive warning right before you upload a plane so be it. You can build planes for them, that is fine. But when you are stealing people's work, or just being a jerk about your favorite youtuber in comments. If someone complains about it, they get a warning and comment / plane deleted. If this involves getting more mods then so be it. The thing with blocking is I have to do it by myself and it stops one person. If I scroll through new there are hundred of planes for a youtuber who stopped playing. I called that the site would go full shitstorm (profanity isn't allowed but is necessary here) after steam would get the game. Back then there were only the devs as mods, and the community was small but helpful. The game is dying without a update in months...
I'm going to stop due to lack of patience to type a short essay on the issues of the game
How do I block people?
Seriously guys - just go make planes...
@DarkLithium Do you have an alternative solution to the problems the community has? Or did you just need to tell me that you think "blocking" is a terrible one?
@joeysellers So if I block all mods and devs I don't have to listen to anyone?
edit- You can also block yourself, and this is a terrible solution to the problems the community has
Makes sense. Thanks. @joeysellers
No, it is discrete. You'll only find out when trying to comment again on their planes or posts. @JacobHardy64
Are you notified if you are blocked? @joeysellers
@Tully2001 Anybody without an account can still download planes.
@joeysellers Got it
@Teus Hate speech is not illegal. At least, not in America.
.
As far as no swearing, just re-read the following rule under the section "Be kind": "Please, just be courteous."
.
That covers everything from swearing to slander. We shouldn't have to list every possibility of inappropriate behavior, like some sort of legislative law.
@joeysellers Fair enough. But one thing still isn't clear to me. You do feel the need to state in the rules that hatespeech, something that actually IS illegal, is prohibited, and yett you don't find it necessary to add that swearing is not allowed. I don't see the problem in adding that one rule to the actual list.
