All Nippon Airways Flight 5338 Missing!

Over the vast expanse of the East China Sea, a lone airliner goes missing. After taking off an hour late from Manila, and leaving Philippine airspace, the plane suddenly stop sending out a routine hourly “blip” of basic flight info. Air traffic controllers in Japan did not pick up the plane at all. The mysterious circumstances of the disappearance of ANA 5338 have made some people speculate, some claim Chinese fighters intercepted it, some claim a terrorist bombing occurred on the flight, and some go as far as to believe aliens abducted the aircraft. These theories don't change the fact that many people are missing. Many grieve for those lost in the tragedy, and some still believe the passengers are alive, stranded somewhere. No nation has come up with information from military radars, perhaps to disguise their capabilities. Japan, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, and South Korea are holding an international search for the wreckage.

Backstory

Over the last century, China has evolved. A century ago, China was deeply affected by western imperialism, and has been suffering from the great embarrassment brought by the Opium Wars, the Sino-Japanese War, the Boxer Rebellion, and other foreign exploits. After a revolution, a period of instability, a massive Japanese occupation, and a civil war, China has emerged in the 21st century as a great power- perhaps even a superpower. However this isn't exactly good news for China's neighbors, who have to deal with a nation on the verge of expansion. Overlapping claims in the East and South China Seas have interrupted regional peace and stability, and threaten long term impacts on the world.

One neighbor of China, however, just so happens to be an isolated dump of old ideas ton awry: North Korea. Its brainwashed and starving populace is slowly and steadily being infiltrated by technology of the digital age, from both South Korea and China, and threaten the power of the blood thirsty Kim Régime. Unrest occurs in North Korea at a scale never seen before, and it is a matter of time before the Government finally succumbs to its absurdity.

Please remember that total warfare is rare in our modern age, and that war itself is a last ditch effort. However, a wild international crisis isn't too bad ever once in a while. Remember ROKS Cheonan?
