Sorry for taking so long! I have the attention span of an ADHD goldfish. Here's the second chapter of five. Link to the first below.
"What information do you think I may have?" asked Benjamin Ricks.
The lieutenant, cleaning her revolver, asked "I want to know what you know about Project Balaur."
"Project Balawhat?" he asked.
"Project Balaur. An electromagnetic supergun built by you guys. The thing my unit and I were tasked to blow up." Looking out the window to the smoking wreckage of the bunker, she said "It seems we have done a good job at that."
"Indeed," he replied, looking out the same window.
"What is your mission?" asked the lieutenant. Finished cleaning her revolver, she began to load it.
"Fix this damn radio relay. I'm stuck here for a week because of my sh*tty CO who denied me leave so I can visit my sick momma."
"I feel sorry for you, CPO Ricks. But I'm afraid as of now, there is only one way off this island," gesturing to the Pummeler sitting on the runway, "And that thing has a leak in its main tank. We don't have the range to reach anywhere reasonable on the wing tanks. We could fly far and ditch in the sea, but I'd rather take my chances on dry land than sit in a balloon raft in the middle of the ocean."
"So, we're stuck here?" he asked.
"Unless you know where we can find a boat. Or parts to fix this plane."
He piqued "I do know there is an unmanned weather station not far from here. They've got an old prop plane there. It's a bit of a mess now, but nobody goes there, so it should be mostly intact."
"I suppose it's better than nothing. Where is this weather station?"
Pointing to a direction to a few masts, he said "There. I'm sure you have enough fuel to get there, am I right?"
INCOMPLETE. IS SAVING PROGRESS
@Pilotmario Hope she can make it off the island.
@JakeTheDogg Sorry for taking so long. I'm kind of busy fighting the whole of the damned Persian Empire. They claim that they will win, we claim that we will win, it's a lose-lose here.
Persia shall end up like its predecessor; swept into the dustbin of history.
