Taking lessons from the successful suppression of the zombies in East Africa, who have dealt with similar threats for centuries, they have managed to successfully contain the virus in their holdings through physical quarantine, proper decontamination via immense heat, drawing them away with sensory decoys, and extensive screening.

Recognizing that existing vaccines are of limited value and that a cure is of none, this tactic is very successful, and was applied throughout the empire. This technique is known as the Nairobi Strategy, after the first city which successfully defeated said threat with said strategy.

Interestingly, we developed X-Ray, Yankee, and Zulu Rabies from Whiskey Rabies, a form of rabies endemic to the region, and which the people have developed some immunity to over the millennia it has been there. In addition, Beta Solanum virus was also present as well, which generated similar symptoms. The local populace made no distinction from the two, since both had very similar symptoms and results, and tactics that worked for one worked for the other

While the undead in Awwam will forever remain a threat, it is now a controllable threat that with continued diligence and discipline to suppress, will remain effective against future mutations, natural or otherwise.

In the meantime, the attempt to find a cure for a hundred different critters who will soon develop immunity to said cure has utterly wasted resources that could have gone to suppression via Nairobi Strategy.

As a result, Avaurna and Persia have collapsed, as they didn't do the tried and true method of killing zombies. With predictable results.
