With the new 1.5 update we added the ability to export 3D models of your airplanes. This can be a little tricky to do on iOS, but here are the steps:
- From the designer, click the menu button and 3D Print / Export.
- Tap Export
- Install iExplorer on your Mac/PC
- Connect your iOS device to your PC
- In iExplorer, drill down into your device -> Apps -> SimplePlanes -> Documents
- There you will find the folder containing the model files for your airplane
- You can right click on the folder and select Export to Folder
After you export it to your PC/Mac, you can then use your 3D modelling application of choice to open it up. If you don't have one, Blender is a great option and it has a great price tag (free).
This post is so old that @HackingAnonymous is 20 now (he was 14) 💀
I know I'm "a bit" late ,but how would it work on Android ?
@AndrewGarrison this won't work until you enable iTunes file sharing for simple planes if not the files are inaccessible through iExplorer
@AndrewGarrison Can you enable iTunes file sharing so that I can export files through iExplorer
@AndrewGarrison Can you enable iTunes file sharing so that I can export files through iExplorer
Hello to all lovers of 3D modeling, here I leave you a website where you can find everything you need to know about the subject, and you can see many 3D models of airplanes, planes and others.: https://www.stlfinder.com/
Lol I still don’t know. XD Oh and don’t bother teaching me because I still won’t know. XD @GREYWOLF4802
@jamesPLANESii just letting you know, the color of your project depends on the color material you use, not what the file looks like
I can't find SimplePlanes
Can I export any other way as it isn’t showing up on I explorer?
iExplorer indicates that the app developer needs to enable Document support in the app before it can drill down to SimplePlanes -> Documents.
At present, I can't see any files under the SimplePlanes app. If you were to enable the Documents, then iTunes would allow transfer of documents from its interface. No need for iExplorer.
@AndrewGarrison I need help it I can't find the SimplePlanes folder in iexplorer
@AudioDud3 On Android, just click the Export button in the game and then take note where it says it saved the file. Then connect your device via USB to a PC and navigate to that file location. Copy the folder to your PC. You now have the 3D model of your airplane, but it's up to you to find a way to 3D print it.
@AndrewGarrison can you use DS Solid Works?
@AndrewGarrison
Could you help me please? I'm going to be 3D printing my plane on the 3D printers at my library. I've brought my plane up on Blender with an .obj file but it's come out plain white. If I print it with this file, will it come out the printer plain white? And if so, how do I make it coloured strait from SP?
Wth! I can't find the app on the list! It say this app does not have itunse file sharing enable
I found AndrewGarrison 2.0
