Anyone remember "Simple" Planes? Before it became a showroom for the highly detailed replications? I remember when I got my first plane to fly, it was just a few bricks and wings with a prop strapped to it. It didn't handle well, but it flew. Now ive improved a lot since then, but let's face it. Putting wings on a. Fuselage doesn't cut it anymore.
If you want to get noticed you either have to download someone's detailed plane, and change it dramatically enough not to count as copy and paste, or sit back and watch everyone else

And its not just planes anymore. Flying ships, helicopters, normal ships and spacecraft are popular too.
Just do your research, pay attention to detail and do your very best and people will like your designs :)
