New Story Series: Cpl. Emily, RN

Given the positive reception of my stories, I have made a new series, involving a Paternian Army android nurse with a "semi-sentient" AI, covering philosophical topics such as ethics and humanity.

    @Makcoink Of interest. The whole conflict here is whether to consider her as human or not.

    Emily is by all means a robot, and identifies herself as such. Despite this, she has displayed behavior and emotions beyond or inconsistent with protocol. For example, after her six-month deployment, she has displayed high proficiency with a variety of weapons, none which she was ever trained to use.

    In addition, she displayed emotions such as sadness, which were locked behind protocol and the side effect of its civilian origins, as well as emotions such as joy, anger, and hatred, which were never added. In addition, she is addressed differently from other robots. Where medical androids are referred to as "doc bots" and logistics androids are referred to as "haul bots" and addressed by serial number, she is referred to as "Missus", "Corporal", "Emily", or "Corporal Emily", and has formed an emotional attachment with those she serves alongside.

    In numerous instances, the soldiers insisted they make attempts to rescue her when she was lost, and she has insisted on rescuing wounded soldiers who cannot be approached due to the gunfire.

    @Pilotmario In the Republic of Zealand, androids/ synthetic humans have been working in industry for more than a year now and only recently, after leaving Awwam, androids were given full rights as citizens ( voting, being able to serve in the military, and being able to live their own life etc..) most of these "synthetic humans" have near human AI and it is very hard to tell them apart. As a matter fact, the first lady of the ROZ is an android, her name is Hatsune Miku ( no relation to the leader of Japan)

    @Patrick20206 Nah.

    You see, Corporal Emily was one of five medical robots; Amanda, Blake, Charlie, Dylan, and Emily.

    Amanda ran on Female Standard Protocol 1 AI and was given a feminine appearance and Female Standard Protocol Personality. She specializes in specialist care.

    Blake ran on Male Standard Protocol 1 AI and was given a masculine appearance, Akamai 1 self-learning system, and an adaptive Masculine personality. He specializes in emergency care.

    Charlie ran on Male Standard Protocol 1 AI and given a masculine appearance but Male Standard Protocol Personality. He specializes in general care.

    Dylan ran on Human Standard Protocol 1 AI and given Androgynous Standard Protocol Personality. Dylan specializes in surgical tasks.

    All but Blake were intended for noncombat situations. Although Blake and Dylan androids are used by the military, they are far from the frontline.

    Emily was the fifth of the Dragot Systems MedBot types. She was given a feminine appearance and a more advanced form of the Akamai self-learning system and a wider adaptive personality. The military was interested in military robots in combat, and sought to test its abilities as a medic. She was intentionally made to appear almost humanlike, so as to earn the trust of the troops more easily.

    Emily is unusual among the five in that in her six-month personality, she has accumulated a number of traits and have overridden various protocols. She is considered the most human of the five; Blake-type robots are often referred as "Doc Bots", while in her unit, she is often referred to as "Corporal" or "Emily".

    Examples of protocol-breaking due to her improved intelligence include attacking people, possessing emotions which have been blocked off by secure access (such as anger, guilt, sadness, love, and hatred), and disobedience to orders.

    Since it covers philosophical topics; I think it will be a future robot overlord.
