AdBlockPlus

I hate revealing personal information, but my hand is forced now. As the tittle implies I am talking about ad blockers, or specifically AdBlockPlus. There is a recent "controversy" about ADBlockPlus going around claiming that they are going into the business of selling ads on the World Wide Web. Many of these websites themselves rely on advertising. Gizmodo, Cracked, Wall Street Journal, Endgadget, and many other news websites that rely on DoubleClick's (a subsidiary of Google mind you) for revenue. Please do not believe anything published about AdBlockPlus, or any other ad blocker, that they publish.

I am 30 years old and I have seen the evolution of internet ads from mostly harmless GIF animated internet banner ads (how NetFlix became famous) of my youth to ads that, not only obstruct you from seeing the content you wish to see, but redirect you to an ad-ridden website just to view said content (Almost every news/journal/blog/BuzzFeedClone site relying on Google's ad subsidiaries to stay afloat).

Don't get me wrong, I know not all advertisements are going to give you malware. NetFlix became very successful because of them. So what is "Acceptable Ads" platform? Well, let me show and tell you. Acceptable Ads is merely a publishing platform that allows publishers to make their ads less intrusive to their target users. AdBlockPlus is, in no way, planning to sell ads themselves or through anyone. They are just wanting to make a development platform standard that will enhance the end user experience on the web. This means no tracking your clicks to send you targeted ads, no ad spaces taking more than 2/3 of the content of any page or site you visit, no auto-play advertisements that hijack your volume settings...no more crap that can cause serious harm to your computer.
