The two-week long Siege of New Breton was the bloodiest battle of the Continuum to date. The Black Veil, a massive organized pirate group, made their way to the Continuum core world by hijacking a comet, which was coincidentally on its return journey closer to the Bretonian system, and altered its route ever so slightly using graviometric tugs to bring the comet's route closer to the planet's atmosphere. The entire Black Veil fleet then towed along, using the comet's gas trail as cover. The trip lasted a good 30 years with a few casualties due to hibernation failure. As the comet finally passed New Breton, Bretonian authorities were forced to deactivate their orbital defenses to avoid them getting destroyed by EM interference, and the Black Veil used this window of oppurtunity to engage and raze New Breton's capital cities and military installtions from orbit using kinetic and energy weapons. The initial attack took the lives of almost 40 million civilians (70% of the population) and the following ground sweeps took another 20 million. The Continuum Navy responded quickly, but their forces were utterly crushed by the Black Veil, taking advantage of their sheer number, guerrilla tactics and advanced firepower (which was later discovered to have alien tech melded into their weaponry). The Continuum ultimately sent 3 fleets to eliminate the adversary and suffered a shameful loss, but they were saved by a mutiny that killed the Black Veil's commander, Lothor Zarkov. His death dealt a moral blow to the Black Veil's ranks, knowing that their leader was dead and there were traitors among them. The surviving pirates surrendered, but the Continuum Navy wasn't so forgiving after what they have done, and had them all executed on-the-spot. They were also able to seize their flagship, the StarSaber, and reclaim New Breton with little resistance, but it was not a happy victory, as the Continuum has lost 3 of its 12 fleets, along with it the lives of over 200,000 military personnel and 60 million Bretonians. The Siege has caused the destruction of the Alphard Jump Gate, which linked several major trade routes between the Continuum Worlds. The Siege has also destroyed AstroLabs Ltd., the Continuum's private backer to the construction of the Sagittarius Megajump Gate. The Siege has also shaken the citizens' faith in the ability of the Continuum to maintain peace and order among the core and colony worlds, and has fueled the rise of a few rebel organizations. The resulting unrest also weakened the Continuum's border security, and due to that, there have been unconfirmed reports of sightings of alien starships scouting the Continuum border. The Siege was not all bad news though. The recovered tech from the Black Veil has led to the construction of new warships and the first to be completed, the Perdition-Class battlecruiser, was sent to deep space for border patrol.
@cobalT thanks!
@cobalT to what address should I send my reply?
@JoddyFubuki788 there will be a new squadron (you name it) and they will have their own story as they fight against the Black Veil in the Siege.
@Ephwurd ok :)
@PyrusEnderhunter oh, okay then :)
So... What about Garuda sqn.? @Ephwurd
Just Prometheans.... no Ascension
@Ephwurd so perhaps in can be just Prometheans that come to warn of the Alcurvians?
@JoddyFubuki788 it was not a war, just a siege
@PyrusEnderhunter I appreciate your efforts, and the Alcurvian and Promethean conflict is indeed interesting, but sadly the Ascension part is greatly conflicting with what I had planned. My plan was that the Ascension was one of the refugee groups that fled Earth after the Pre-Crossing War and progressed on their own due to isolation. If you want to know where the Ascension was inspired from, go to wattpad, search and read "Dark Omega" (its cover is a close-up of a hooded knight). That is my vision of the Ascension.
And then... The war will continue to the destruction of entire continiuum? @Ephwurd
@Ephwurd I can write their back story as well.
@Ephwurd but the Alcurvians can look like the description of Prometheus Engineers.
@Ephwurd plz read the backstory I wrote u. I work hard.
@Ephwurd I already wrote the back story ;-;
@PyrusEnderhunter I have also added a new alien race, called the Varacys. They are an artificial race consisting of faceless, humanoid sentient robots built by their creators to fight their wars. But the Varacys had a twisted understanding of maintaining peace and order (the task hardwritten into them) and in the process drove their creators to extinction. Their parameters have extended to deep space, where they eliminate species which they deemed too violent. Unfortunately they noticed humanity because of the Siege.
@JoddyFubuki788 It sure is, imagine 60 million people dying from orbital lasers and missile rains...
This is gonna be a darkest chapter...
@PyrusEnderhunter well, the new threat I have came up with is an alien race who call themselves the Tors. They are a hominid race (they are strikingy similar to humans, and they look like elves of fantasy fiction) and they are masters of biological warfare and genetic editing (Think space jockeys from Prometheus and the Alien franchise). And about the Ascension, I have already laid out their backstory (sorry) but you can write the Varacys backstory (remember that they are genetic masters and can create biological constructs designed for killing, such as killer fungi, zombie virus, shapeshifting alien killer,etc. It is vital to their characters) and add your planned alien race too.
@Ephwurd I can write the back story.
@Ephwurd can I provide the back story of the Ascdnsion?
@Ephwurd that sounds great. The threat could be a barbaric fascist alien race called the Alcurvians (from my imagination). That can match the Continuum and Ascension combined.
