Breaking News: A L-1011 Crashed 0.7 miles from Wright Int'l runway.
The L-1011 TriStar's throttle cracked off while descending from 27,000ft.
The engines were stuck at 97% power. The plane tried an approach before realizing there was too much altitude and they made a right turn. On their 2nd approach, they were coming in at 360mph. They airplane touched down 36ft from the hold short line and bounced. The 2nd officer immediately disabled the engines 1, 2, and 3. The speed drops to 251mph before they bounce 50 ft. The touch down 82 feet before the end of the runway. They notice taxiway A7 near the end of the runway and make a sharp left turn. The slip in the jet's movement was enough to send them 1,500ft away from the runway. The airplane is going up-hill 80 mph. The plane finally stops and the top of the hill. Then, it starts moving backwards. Trying to slow the down, the 2nd officer enables the engine at the rear. Finally the captain raises the gear. There were no fatalities.
