I was messing around with vtol stuff at could detract from a ground source then fly off it did work but the problem I had was that the vtol plane would pitch up drastically but would still be controllable

fot VTOL planes your CoT(the yellow one) must be at the EXACT place as the CoM(the red one). if your CoL is too far behind when hovering the nose will dip. if your CoT is too far front when hovering the tail will dip. for CoL its the same as regular planes.
@MrSharp what about the Center of lift because I think that's were I am having my problems
Maybe try placing the vtol nozzle higher up?
