When I see high rated users complaining that all of these 10 part builds are getting 100 upvotes(I know its an exaggeration) I honestly don't understand shy, because to be honest, I have never seen a ten part build with 100 upvotes. Also, when they say they are taking a break because of this, it seems to me as though they are spoiled, because its like they are asking for more attention than they have already got. I know a few platinum users who do this, but its not necessary to say this crap, cos firstly its not true(if it is prove it) and secondly, your acting as if your not satisfied with the amount of upvotes you get. It shouldn't matter how much time you put into something, it depends on whether others like your plane, or if they prefer those so called "ten part builds."

P.s Why does it matter how many upvotes something gets? People in this game like to build for fun, or so others can have fun. The upvote system isn't the most important thing in the game. And if a plane gets an upvote, it means that whoever gave it the upvote probably liked that plane, and thats why they upvoted it. Secondly, just because your plane only gets 1 or two upvotes, doesn't mean that people don't like it.

@Kt1578 Indeed I do, I should also mention that smaller posts by new users that get support just to get them into the system is fine by me, but that is just is just wrong

@Kt1578 The posts aren't necessarily against the rules, so tagging a mod won't do much, and I haven't got to the point of making a forum post... yet

Thats true, but @AudioDud3 has a point in saying that "i think that the higher players need to realize that they arent the gods of this website and atleast need to give some attention to lower people rather than being attention hogs. In real life just because a person is bigger doesnt mean they need to be loved 247, also as you get older this happens all the time, real life, videogames, THE INTERNET TO." @ChiChiWerx

I guess you have a point.... but if you don't like something or if someone does something like that, then you could just tag the mods, instead of making forum posts and complaining about it. And I know the cockpit build your talking about, I upvoted it myself XD @Flightsonic

I have seen more users than Johnfg say this... not all of them may take breaks, but many complain about this. @RealQcan

Only Johndfg took a break for that reason. Therefore, you have no right to call out other users because of one person.

It's posts like these (No hard feelings, I'm assuming it was meant to be a joke post, but still) that bother the older majority
That reminds me, there was actually a post of a cockpit that got 50+ upvotes, it was thankfully removed, but that goes to show that people will bandwagon easily

    I kindly disagree...
I don't care how much attention I get on anything, as with most plats I know/talk to, but the spam builds getting upvotes is just a nuisance to most players, as we've gone a long time where such builds were disregarded by all. What gets me the most about the 10 part builds and such, are the upvote chains/buddy systems, where you can see the same users never hesitating to upvote each other, which treats points more like a reward from upvotes (I know they are really) than a reward from effort and skill

Well, here's the dynamic on why higher point builders get more attention: 1. They paid their dues like everyone else. Boy, my first dozen or so posts were completely ignored, just like everyone else, so we all know the pain. 2. However, once I had a successful post, then people started following. 3. More followers, more Spotlights, more views, more points. 4. Over and over and over again...plus, a builder gets better over time with more posts, so even more followers. So, it's no wonder that a builder like @SpiritusRaptor has 971 follwers, so, it only takes around 10% of his followers to generate 100 upvotes on a post. Platinum builders are giants around here, and with good reason, they've earned it with time and effort, though some ARE better than others. If they want to critique a crappy build, then go ahead. Generally, this critique will be constructive and I have yet to see anything unfair, even when directed against joke builds. Plus, I generally agree with them.

Generally the complaint isn't with pet count, but it is with the quality of the build. If something has a low part count, but still looks nice, then it definitely deserves some attention. But yeah, people do whine too much, regardless of whether they are plat or white....

Well I'd say it's not just high rated players that do it, I see a couple of lower ranked users doing it too, and some of those complaints are valid, not all are but I'm just saying a few are, and again I see it form lower ranked users too, I agree on the complaining part of it but not with it being just the higher rank user part of it

I just think we should focus on our "craft!" As long as peeps credit a predecessor, I see really no problem anyway with fake internet points, though I don't like less developed craft getting inordinate attention. I do like that you have to be below a certain threshhold to spotlight, and it seems thats where the upvote referrals should come from. So I would say only follow folks who are responsible curators of their spotlights and upvotes, and the problem will disappear naturally.

Another point to consider is that the membership of this site has exploded, and so a lot of the early folks got a lot more exposure though simply lower numbers of submitted craft. I also think the point scale has diminished since the earlier days but I don't know for certain. So a lot of the folks earned the points in a different climate and maybe that accounts for the attention frustration.

Personally, I love to stress the positive and reward the good kids. Look at @Delphinus , exemplary individual; she does crafting her own way, focuses on the positive, and seems way more into the builds and fostering community, than worrying about attention. And thus these folk will be less obvious, since they are like water; and the folks whom behave like vinegar will always stand out!

Thank you for weighing in with your candid opinion! It makes us all stronger!
