Airport Classification

Class 1 Aerodromes

An aerodrome shall be classified as a Class 1 aerodrome when each of the following are present:
1. At least two (2) paved airstrips, with an available distance of at least 7000ft (2133m) each;
2. At least two (2) large paved aprons/ramps, or four (4) unpaved medium aprons/ramps;
3. At least one (1) large hangar, or two (2) medium hangars;
4. Fully illuminated airfield surfaces, similar to the lighting system of Yeager International Airport, but also including with all taxiway and runway centerlines having green lights visible from up to 1000 feet;
5. An air traffic control tower;

Class 2 Aerodromes

An aerodromes shall be classified as a Class 2 aerodrome when each of the following are present:
1. At least two (2) paved airstrips with an available distance of 5000 ft (1254 m), or two unpaved airstrips with a total distance of 5500 ft (1676 m);
2. At least three (3) medium paved/unpaved aprons/ramps;
3. At least one (1) large hangar or one (1) medium hangar;
4. Fully standard illuminated airstrips, taxiway lighting is not required aside from green centerline lighting;

Class 3 Aerodromes

An aerodrome shall be classified as a Class 3 aerodrome when each of the following are present:
1. At least one (1) paved airstrip with an available distance of at least 4000 ft (1219 m), or one (1) unpaved airstrip with a total distance of at least 4300 ft (1310 m);
2. At least one (1) medium apron/ramp;
3. At least one (1) medium hangar;
4. Sufficiently illuminated airstrips;
