Ok, this is starting to get bad

4,509 Awesomeplanes  7.7 years ago

5 times now to creations of varying sizes and complexities have now deleted almost all of the parts after a redo, level load, or an aircraft load. For example, my most recent build attempt was at a Maus with the proposed V2 turret and 15cm. It was mostly finished, I loaded the level to test it, and only the cockpit and external fuel drum were left. I've found no way as of yet to reverse it (re-loading craft, undoing steps, etc.). This is starting to get really annoying, especially when a lot of time has been put into the craft.

@AndrewGarrison I tried that. I don't think I noticed at first and saved it that way. It's almost like it glitched into X-ray mode and then saved itself there

@Awesomeplanes That's interesting. I imagine that when that part when x-ray that if you left the designer and came back in that it would be solid, is that not true?

@AndrewGarrison it usually isn't too much of a problem, and it doesn't damage the saved aircraft when it does that. What I'm still interested in though in the purple textureless pieces
Oh, and recently, on another project, a couple of pieces stayed in x-ray view mode, and I had to rebuild them to make them appear solid again

@Awesomeplanes If an extra copy is loaded on undo that means the game hit an error and failed to correctly undo. Bad state to be in, you should try and make frequent saves, that way if you hit this issue you can restore you build without losing too much time and effort. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

At the point of the pictures, I had already deleted the game. The build in the pic was also built after the deletion and re downloading

@AndrewGarrison no, it was working fine, and then when I hit undo (seems to be the major cause) it continually loaded in an exact copy, and as I tried to fix it and so forth, it continued to misbehave. The extra parts had to be taken out of the builder piece by piece. Also, on the topic on undo, when I use it, there is a tendancy to either go way too far back, no where, or either one and then the loading up of a copy placed exactly where the original is

It looks like the game is getting some exceptions and it's being left in a strange state. When you quit the game, restart your device and come back in, this is how it looks?

I've finally gotten it to work, if you could please check it out, that would be great

@AndrewGarrison the game just kind of shit itself. I've taken screenshots of some happenings

Of course imgur is refusing to behave itself and work proper, I'll post the links once it does it's thing

@Awesomeplanes I feel it is probably unlikely to help, but I would be interested to know if it fixes the issue.

Would it be of any use to delete and re download the game?

@AndrewGarrison I think it tends to happen with the fuselages, fuselage cones, and such. I tend to use a lot of them. The parts left behind have always been either a shock or a fuselage block

It's hard to say what the issue is without being able to see your log files, which are much harder to access on iOS than any other device. I suspect a part in the airplane gets into a state where it can't properly save itself and then when you load the loading process fails and all parts after that are not loaded. Do you notice this happening after working with a specific kind of part? Fuselage parts, fuselage inlets, or fuselage nose cones would be my guess for a part that could become error prone. Let me know if you find any patterns.

@EliteIndustries1 My phone and SP are both up to date, and I have lots of storage left, with regular back ups. This sort of thing has happened before, where the plane would go textureless and depthless purple, and anything done beyond that point would inevitably delete it
