The Great Emu War

105k RailfanEthan  7.7 years ago

Australia's wildlife nuisance issue with the giant birds. It's reffered to a war because Australia's soldiers were sent out to literally shoot emus with Lewis guns. Two seperate attempts were made. Seriously. During the first wave, 2,500 shots were fired - but no more than 50 birds hit.

Casualties:
[Emu]
Total of 3,00 birds~
Shrubbery
[Australian Army]
Physical casualties to soldiers
10,000+ shots
Dignity.
