Download Drought - Is this happening to anyone else?

162k spefyjerbf  7.7 years ago

I noticed that my past uploads have recieved fewer upvotes than the ones before them, which didn't concern me, as this is a fairly normal pattern.

However, the amount of downloads has considerably fallen. Are there not many people browsing SP at the moment, or are my current uploads below my normal standards of quality? (or is there another explanation?)

An example of the download drought would be my C-type Lancer. Its upvotes are fine, but it only has 80 or so downloads. Maybe I need to switch up my uploading times or something.

The same thing is happening to me, I have been struggling to get upvotes & upvotes on my builds.

@CoBros2 I doubt I will be able to enter. I have a large scale project that I am staring in SP, and then I am continuing an IRL project after that.

Usually I don't have time to download while I browse so for me if it looks cool I just upvotes it (blame school)

I'm a new builder but still my first builds were decent at first now no comments or upvotes and less downloads.

Yeah I've had a few builds within the last few months or so that have had just a few downloads, the upvotes don't really concern me that much

@AaltonenIndustries This beautiful tank built by another user is an excellent example of this. Sure, it may accumulate more downloads with time, but with its fairly standard part count, it should have double the amount of downloads it currently has.

@AaltonenIndustries It seems to be happening on other people's creations too. I took a quick trip to the highest rated tab, and looked at the uploads that had around 30 upvotes. I compared them to a build of mine that has 30 upvotes, and there seems to be a difference ranging from 200 to 600 downloads. In my experience, 30 upvotes means about 800-900 (if the file isn't massive) downloads. The recent ones with 30 upvotes are getting 200-600 upvotes, which is considerably lower than the previous number...

@EternalDarkness Maybe. That's probably the reason.

I think that your problem lies right in those standards. Standard futuristic shape, standard paint scheme, standard theme etc. You need a bit more variety in the look of your builds. Although your builds are often innovative, people are getting tired of their design. Make a bit of a pause with space tech and make something radically different.
