My Fictional Universe - Continuum: The First Tor War

53.5k Ephwurd  7.7 years ago

April 22nd, 3205 (Earth Time) marked a milestone, and one of the darkest hours, of both Continuum & human history. The Continuum Empire finally meets its first alien race, the Sentians of I.S.F.O.S.. Both races first had contact when the Sentians accidentally exited FTL within Continuum territory. Both schedule a diplomatic meeting after hours of misunderstanding, but was interrupted when the Continuum border patrol reports multiple massive blips detected 127 AU off the Continuum border. Both the Continuum and I.S.F.O.S. thought that they are also new aliens interested in forming alliance, so they send diplomatic ships with destroyer escorts to formally welcome them. Both parties lose contact with their ships, and when the following rescue group finds the wreckage of the missing ships, both sides were sent into panic. With the help of I.S.F.O.S. technology, the humans were able to track the quantum ripples made by those unknown vessels traveling in FTL, and were able to find out that they were headed to Malavar, a mining planet and a Continuum core world. Three battlefleets were sent to intercept, and when the unknown vessels exited FTL, all hell broke loose.

The unknown vessels' leader called themselves the Tors, and declared their collective interest in conquering Continuum territory. Their warships were the biggest ever seen, their smallest ships dwarfing even the massive Centauri-Class dreadnoughts of the I.S.F.O.S., which were already triple the size of the largest Continuum warships. While the Tors did have bigger ships, their ship technology fell far behind, lacking decent anti-weapon shielding and projectile weaponry. Continuum-built railguns did the most damage on the Tor warships, tearing through their 700-meter wide hulls straight through without the projectiles even slowing down. I.S.F.O.S. plasma weaponry dealt substantial damage too, and within a few hours, the combined force of the Continuum and I.S.F.O.S. have destroyed a total of 17 Tor warships. But when they thought it was all over, the tide of battle suddenly changed.

An immensely larger warship exited FTL just behind their blockade, and just far enough to be too far for sublight travel and too near for FTL. The larger vessel, which the Tor commander described as a kingship, easily destroyed Malavar's orbital and anti-orbital defenses and disabled their planetary shield generators. By the time the human ships got in range, it was too late.

The Tor kingship unleashed a massive volley of missiles down the undefended planet. When the missiles reached the upper atmosphere, their warheads broke open, emptying their contents which was a powerful corrosive chemical that multiplied in quantity when in contact with air. By the time the chemical reached ground level, it has become a massive gas cloud so thick that onlookers from space described the event as "Malavar just turned yellow in minutes". The tortured screams of the Malavar colonists flooded the Continuum battlegroups' comms as the chemical ate at anything organic and inorganic, and while the Continuum and ISFOS watched the horrifying scene unfold before them, the Tor kingship and its decoy battlegroup continued to attack the Continuum-I.S.F.O.S. battlegroup until the latter were ordered to retreat by their respective superiors. When the cloud cleared, Malavar was literally razed to the ground, as all signs of surface life were erased from existence. That fateful day then marked the beginning of the First Tor War.

@JoddyFubuki788 yes. I plan to go by Garuda Squadron for the aerospace team while I will name the starfighter team as Ribbon Squadron.

@JoddyFubuki788 I'm thinking of giving one of the Continuum battlefleets with two squadrons, a aerospace fighter squadron and a starfighter squadron.
