OK, I've seen some great bomb sights made with intakes, cameras and tiny fuselage pieces (crosshairs), but when I try to attach the camera, then nudge it into the intake cavity, it still only shows the image it was taking when I placed it on top of the intake to start.
So...does anyone have suggestions for how to make a great bomb sight?
Hey I’m trying to build a bomb sight right now, how do you create a telescopic sight? @Weaverfish
@Weaverfish yes, I did comment on your P-40, really think you did a great job on that one, the shape was perfect. Standby, I'm going to check out your new post.
@ChiChiWerx yep. I've had a real headache trying to mount a camera inside a telescopic aiming tube. It clips so much T_T
I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of tricks you pull off. Good luck.
Also did you make a comment on my last plane? I deleted it & uploaded a better version before I looked at notifications :(
@Weaverfish thanks for the input. I figured it out, the issue is that when in the editor, if you simply nudge the camera to the center of the intake piece, which seems the way it should be done, the view you see out of the camera is still above where the camera actually sits. You actually need to put the camera below, and well below, where you want the view to "see" from when in flying mode.
Definitely create the bombsight as a very simple, scrappy object below a cam that you can use as a testbed for finding the correct dial for the tight height.
Once you've scoped it in right, you can build the proper bombsight over it, then just remove the scrappy version.
@ChiChiWerx
I attached the stuff first, nudged it into the fuselage and then align it.
@Seeras thanks, got it. So, do I have the generally correct idea? 1. Attach camera to intake. 2. Nudge camera down, down, as far as necessary (possibly below the intake) to have the flight mode view looking out the intake. 3. Use shrunken fuse pieces as crosshairs and nudge to front of intake. 4. Attach whole thing to aircraft block and angle (with Fine Tuner), then nudge into the fuse?
@ChiChiWerx
Use this mod to rotate blocks. In this case the camera and the intake.
@ChiChiWerx Not as a group. You need to (whit fine tuner) to move it piece by piece :/
@mushr0om OK thanks, will try that.
You just need to place the camera somewhere and nudge it to the right place
Do I need to put a second block at the back of the intake, THEN place the camera on top of that?
Yes @ChiChiWerx
@mushr0om what is frustrating, is that in the editor, I see the camera right smack in the middle of the intake opening, but the view doesn't change to see out of the intake while in flight. When you nudged it down (or in), did you have to nudge it below the intake?
@Mainblocks, I will try to follow your advice to get this to work, thank you. Do you know if I can "assemble" the sight outside the plane, then use Fine Tuner to nudge it all into the plane and angle it as a group?
@ChiChiWerx You need to merged inside the plane. If not you will not be able to see your bombsight. And yes, do it in the editor. And test it in flight.
@ChiChiWerx I just placed the camera and nudged it below the sight until it showed up as in the center in flight
@Mainblocks, thank you for your advice. When you say to "manually setup and adjust the camera to view in your bombsight", should I do so in the editor? In the editor, I have tried to place, then nudge the camera into the correct position inside the intake, but it still will not look through the intake, it still "sees" as if it is on top of the intake, not inside of it. I have not tried to angle the camera in the editor, as you suggest, to see if the view changes, though, but I will try that.
just rotate the camera downside. You need to manually setup and adjust the camera to view in your bombsight. Like 1 m of the crossair.
Don't forget to test the view in flight.
@mushr0om @Seeras you both have figured this out, how do you do it? How do you move and angle the camera to actually look down and out of the intake?
