New Portum Map Progress + announcements

A few days ago I began a week-long hiatus from SP and map modding. I might as well show the progress.

  • Well, first I had to, well, learn how to use Unity to make maps, and most of my time was spent doing just that.

But here's the real progress:


1. Finished the capitol's island.


2. Created the basic island for the city. I might bulk it up to make some mountains.


3. Created the basic road layout for the city. These grids are huge, so I may add more roads.


4. Here's the view of the capitol from what will be the downtown area.

Also...

Many thanks for all of those who participated in the challenge that involved this map mod. I didn't anticipate the challenge's popularity. The rules also have been changed. Many apologies for the inconveniences, but I make the part count higher.

    @PyrusEnderhunter I'm going to do a ton of work on the map this weekend, but so am not sure if I will finish it. And don't worry, I have a mountain already.

    Also: u may need to add a mountain for the Colonial Guard Building.

    @spefyjerbf btw, can you give my ships a 1-1 scale with the buildings in your map? I imagine that if you used my carriers, they would dwarf the tallest structures

    @spefyjerbf TEXTURE FILE?!?! Oo i never found one but i remember that somehow i managed to import plane+textures and colors lol

    @helilover03 So right now I'm currently away from my computer. My week-long hiatus involves separation from my PC (I'm vacationing), so the progress shown is what I currently have. I will return to the project next week, but I may have some other (non-sp related) projects that may take priority over this mod.

    @Ephwurd Ah yes, I will take special care in making the shipyard. I may modify one of your ships to make it look like it is undergoing maintenance or repairs.

    @BirdOfSteel I made the building in SP, then exported it as an .obj file. I then imported the .obj file into Unity as an asset. Interestingly, the file has its own texture asset too, which can be imported into Unity to make texturing a bit easier.
