Round jet engines require mounting points?

I'm trying to build an F8 crusader I know it's been done but all my previous stuff is simple trainer types and the aircraft is unique enough to result in some lessons in design through the process I cannot get the j90 or any of the followon engines to "mate" with my aircraft. By that I mean they never turn green when I try to place them in line with the aircraft body. The square jets are fine, but the circular ones will not click .. not even with air intakes that supposedly exist to feed them. The j90 is not a afterburner engine and is not historical for the aircraft as a result , but it was the first one I tried after experimenting with the smaller square engines. Presumably I'll have the same issues with the later ones when I seek a proper match. The circular engines do click outside but not in line with my aircraft. IE I'm sure it would work fine attached to a wing etc

That fixed it ... now I'm just ironing out weight and center of lift issues

You could use the BFE150, its a round inline engine

I used that engine initially but I'm trying to model the thing as close as possible to the orginal, and that engine is not powerful enough to push an aircraft buult to historical specs (weight, wingspan etc). It's not afterburning either. I wish there was a way to change the output like on prop engines

Try to mout them on the side and nudging it inside. J90's and BFFE300's are pylon engines, not in-line engines. Besides, the Crusader is a turbojet aircraft. Best you use the J-50.
