On simple planes when you publish your aircraft you should get a small amount of points for every download by another player. 10 Points per download for example.

How about 1 point per download for people with less than 1000 points? And people over 1000 don't get points for downloads at all, that stops there from being a ton of platinum users.
Maybe 1 point per download. If your plane got 1,000 downloads you'd be silver just like that though.
