I've made planes that way, it's pretty awful. As the wings rotate, they mess with the COM and COL, making control very difficult without control nozzles and an RCN engine. That, combined with tail control surfaces only designed to handle forward motion makes the whole setup a real pain. If you limit the rotation to 15 or 20 degrees, you might be able to make it work for STOL instead of VTOL, however.

@AtomicCashew The main thing is to maintain control at every step. There are ways you can do it, RCN's are probably the most straightforward.
And yes, the one I thought saving up 4.5 mil for was enough for. @Tully2001
