Best Memory:
I used to ride trains every summer to visit my grandparents, which is 2000 miles away from the city I lived in (Shanghai to Xinjiang, China) when I was very little. It was a two-day ride in the sleeping cars, but not boring at all! It was a great way for sightseeing, you would enjoy looking at the farmlands, cities, mountains, and deserts on the way.
I really missed the train rides, since train tickets are getting difficult to buy in recent years. Now it is only a 4-hour flight, but comparing to the two-day train ride, I consider it very boring.
Worst Memory
Last year in US, my friend and I hanged out for photographs, and we tried to take some railroad track pics. We didn't worry about our safety, since I knew this section of railroad was owned by Amtrak and there was only one train passing through here everyday. So we entered the tracks from a crossing, and we were immediately found by a police officer...
The police officer threatened us that he could put us into jail...
@BaconAircraft That is a good choice.trains were more reliable than planes that summer.Those planes always late because of the storm.
Yeah. But I wanted to take the plane regardless so I can ride the shanghai maglev. However my parents disagreed. @lewisxu0513
@BaconAircraft Actually......Four hours is good if you took a plane......Those thunderstorms in the south were really horrible in last summer
吼啊
我这个上海到新疆全程硬卧其实更爽。。。
@lewisxu0513
感觉像是在写初二水平英语作文(
坠吼滴记忆吧......
Best memory......
大概是三年以前,普速哈尔滨-秦皇岛,硬座七个小时+ 全程夜景,但是仍然很好玩,和我表弟耍玩具一路
About three years ago,I took the train from Harbin to Qinhuangdao(A small city near Beijing),It took me over seven hours and it was dark outside.But I didn't feel boring because my little cousin were playing with me.It was really fun!
现在这个线路有航空了,也就1hr左右,但是我估计一生也不会坐,因为那7小时真的难忘(当然可能因为秦皇岛机场离秦皇岛市区将近70km)
Now an airline is running this route,about only one hour.But I won't take planes on that route,because it was a really unforgettable trip......(Maybe there's another reason......It is about 70 km from downtown to the airport in Qinhuangdao......)
best memory
going on the Hong Kong metro
it was cold which was nice
worst memory
none...yet
🍺 @QingyuZhou
Oh I remember you're also Chinese
I also have several train rides on bullet trains, and feel just awesome
@BaconAircraft
I bet the drivers were drunk...lol
@SAC923 @destroyerP
Cool! Those maglev trains can speed up to 300mph @WaffleCakes
My best memory:
Last year while visiting Shanghai, we were lucky enough to board the new "FuXing" bullet train from Beijing.
Worst memory:
On the way back from Shanghai, onboard the older bullet train, we ended up being delayed 4 hours on the track due to a thunderstorm in the area. This caused us to arrive back in Beijing at 11:30PM, missing the last subway and way too late for any taxis to notice us... We ended up getting home (which is on the opposite side of beijing) at 2:30AM...
No best train memory
Worst train memory: When I was on the way back home by train, the train is quite crowded and I was standing. Everything seems normal in the train and suddenly the driver stops the train in the middle of nowhere. A minute later, the train starts moving for a few meters and immediately stop, causing many people to nearly fall over including me. If I did fall, I will be embarrass. This repeated a few times, and finally everything back to normal. I was a little mad at that time
Best train memory: getting to watch the Japanese maglev being tested...LIVE!
Yes they are ... fortunately it was just a warning and we didn't get arrested or fined @QuantausAviation
lol I like that song and cartoon style... @Blue0Bull
American police r crazy
My favorite is when I went for a ride on the Phillipsburg Railroad (previously the Belvedere and Delaware Railroad) in Delaware New Jersey, it was the most scenic railroad I've ever been on
My worst experience was on the Connecticut River Valley Railroad, when the train was doing about 40mph, then just suddenly stopped, launching me into the seat in front of me, hurt my face
And then the guy said just a technical difficulty, sorry for the delay, after loads of people got their face implanted into the seat in front of them
@QingyuZhou it did. It got sold to Pan-Am, and now most of the lines that are near me are owned by Central Maine & Quebec. They receive most of their units from BNSF.
Guilford only operates in New England area, right? @RailfanEthan
Agreed, train is definitely a great way for sightseeing
@TrainDude
@QingyuZhou Yeah, too bad Guilford ended up filing bankruptcy again. There aren't many active companies left in my state.
That's really cool to be living by a active line. Now I'm living next to a railroad crossing, trains of BNSF passes through here every hour... @RailfanEthan
My best memory is growing up, I lived next to a fairly active line owned by Guilford Rail (Pan-Am). I'd always wake up at night just to watch them from my window.
Worst memory. I really haven't had any except losing my parents in a train station for like 15mins, and that was several years ago.
