1.7 overview.

1.7 came as a little bit of a surprise to me, until I looked further.

Pros

  • New effects, I love them.
  • New parts, they're rather useful in some situations.
  • I like that fleet north of yeager, fun to play around with the flak cannons.
  • The tools are nice, albeit just a simplified version if fine tuner and overload.
  • They finally fixed the 'enter' key, last time I used it I became a dreidel.
  • Finally, dogfights can't be judged by first shot.

Cons

  • No new islands or additions to the map as I've been longing for since last year (with the exception for the fleet near yeager, but I'm talking about a new island).
  • Very simple, there isn't much that's useful when compared to 1.5 or 1.6.
  • The damage model doesn't scale parts up when shot with a few bullets.
  • Engine fire lasts too short, the fire should stop after a while but the smoke should stay there the whole time.
  • You still can't rapid fire bombs or missiles, which is something I've been wanting since 1.3.
  • No additions for multiple inputs on for rotators or control surfaces.
  • Somehow tires catch fire, tanked with fuel as reserves..
  • Nudge increment change makes things way worse to nudge parts towards each other (leaves dead space or is inside each other on the edges)
  • Rise and Run isn't boosted along with the size scaling of fuselage
  • Cannot enter numbers larger than 10 without overload

What could be added or improved upon in the full release

  • Make the fire last longer, but the smoke stays until the part is destroyed
  • Add a couple small airports dotted on different islands where there could be some (mainly on wright).
  • LET US SPAM BOMBS AND MISSILES
  • Give me my old nudge increment back
  • Give us the rise and run maximum value 5 rather than 2.5
  • I also want fuselage blocks the ability to become giant beacon lights (for tron builds)

    just add "fireDelay" to any bombs/missile using overload mod. with this you can make rapid fire missiles

    Actually you can xml mod missiles and bombs to be rapid fire now. Havent tried it myself but someone uploaded rapidfire missiles. And the unguided rockets can have firerate edited in editor

    I was flying some big plane I saw on newest (like a huge plane) and decided to provoke the USS Beast fleet... I noticed that I forgot countermeasures so I took the hit... but the missiles harmlessly knocked my plane a bit.. while the bullets tore it apart quickly
