When firing the XM81 152mm conventional rounds, the blowback could almost make the tank flip. Same occurred on M56 Light Tank Destroyer.
The conventional rounds is fired with "Combustible Propelant Charge", which when fired, no spent shell case remains.
The gunner must tightens his eyes to the eyepieces pillow guards to make sure his head didn't bump around the turret when firing the main gun.
The tank's hull isn't actualy that large, it is the spaced armor that makes it that large. The spaced armor is thin though, 3mm thick on all side.
When firing the missile, the tank almost produce no recoil whatsoever. Unlike the Sturmtiger who needs exhaust port at the front.
