I'm sitting here in study hall with nothing better to do,(yes no homework MOM), so why the heck not?
SO! I realize that whenever I announce a project, #1, no one cares! #2, It dies after five seconds of building, but I can assure you that this one will be finished.
Du du duhh!
I'm building an RC plane! Or at the very least, trying to. I'm aiming to build a bush plane out of hot-wire cut insulation foam, because i'm cheap and it works. I've estimated a 53 inch width, and a 40 inch length. I got tired of flying tiny little planes. I'll give it interchangeable landing gear, with floats, skids, and regular wheels. Again, I'm board, and want to build a versatile plane. No flaps, because i only got a 4 channel controller instead of a six channel one. I'm new okay? So Throttle, rudder aileron elevator. The wire cutter is pretty much done, so that should work. Brushless motor for the power.
One final question, How should i connect two servos to my receiver for aileron? Is there a wire for that? I'm terribly sorry, this is my first home-built plane.
Do I need to program my controller for two, or can i split one output to two servos? If a homemade RC plane spins out of control, and lands in a forest but no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Tl;Dr bored kid creates Plane or WMD, depending on how well I do.
Use a Y harness they Ares about 4 bucks
@corsair013 I certainly will! I'm going to work on the fuselage later on today. I might post an update on progress.
@MrTyTheGreat awsome :) could you post a photo? I would love to see it!
@JetWondy Thanks!
@corsair013 I've heard that before, and SP has also burned it into my memory! I'm going to check the CG when all of the electronics are in, to determine where the Battery should go.
Awesome!! I love RC planes and Helis!
@MrTyTheGreat no problem! and remember to get the CG right!
"a nose heavy plane will fly badly, a tail heavy plane will crash well"
@TheXDimension32 I just looked into it! Beautiful model, and it seems to fly well, I'll keep it in mind for the future!
@TheXDimension32 Thanks! I'll look into it.
No problem but it is a great plane. Hope all goes well.
@DemonSniper8 I certainly will!
@TheXDimension32 Thanks for the suggestions! I originally was basing my plane off of the beaver. It's much different now, but It was the plane that inspired this.
@Jengstrom I considered it, I'd like to build my own plane first, but I'm most certainly going to build that some day. Also, I wanted a more rounded shape for my plane, something that the bushwacker didn't have.
@corsair013 Wow, thanks! I'll check it out!
I know you are building your own but I personally really like the Flyzone Dehavilland Beaver. Also when you are ordering parts such as servos, Motion RC has great service.
Cool! Please upload pictures when you're done!
use a Y lead to connect the two servos together, always works:)
BTW me and my brother have an RC channel, and one of (or two of, since 2 parts are out) our videos is me building a foamboard HP O/400.
here is the link: channel
BTW. if you need any more advise, just ask, I have been flying for over 5 years now.
Take a look at FliteTest’s FT Bushwacker. Cheaper to build because it uses foam board and hot glue instead of a hot wire cutter.
