The new damage model is a great thing for the game, which opened SimplePlanes to even more possibilities in weapons technology. My only issue, is once you pass the damaged parts system, everything explodes like it used to by one single bullet.
To make more sense on what was said above, if you damage your parts enough to where they explode, a slew of other parts explode that are either internal or on another side. If a sub-update gets released fixing this that would be great, but I doubt that would happen until 1.8.
Another thing I'd like to mention, when a part explodes that is not rooted on a rotator explodes, lift and even control surfaces become ineffective. It's odd to see a plane get damaged critically, and continue on and fall like a rock.
Adding on to what said above, at the wingtips of one of my planes are parts hooked on rotators, If I destroy one side of all the moving parts and attempt to fly forwards, it turns to the other side and spins like a dreidel.
@tunnel rush I need an illustration to understand better.
look
@AndrewGarrison I think you should check this one
Feels like gun damage plays a big part in how the aircraft reacts to a part exploding. If you set damage to 1, you'd never see the plane react to a part being destroyed beyond the flight model changing. If you set that damage to 20, suddenly a lot more happens when that part being hit by 20dmg bullets eventually explodes.
I recommend you play around with different gun dmg combined with different impact forces too. You get a real cocktail of unique reactions based on those two values.
Yes, I do agree with what's being said here, an explosion to a small part in the wing shouldn't lead to a entire wing just disappearing.
I can still destroy the whole Kaitaki in 3 shots...
Or if your wing exploeds shouldnt take half your plane with it
This is true, but if your fuselage is protecting fuel tanks and the fuselage explodes, it makes sense for the fuel tank to explode. But no, my landing gear should not explode if my wing is damaged lol
