@F4f879 no, I don't believe he was in WWII. But I can't say for sure, I'm not terribly familiar with his military past. In reading his obituary I did find this information:
"He served as corporal with the 11th Airborne in Korea, in the 1950's. He was proud to have been a Senior Parachutist and Red Hat Rigger. Flying out of Japan, he was involved in aerial supply drops in Korea. He had lifetime memberships in various associations, including the 11th and 82nd Airborne."
Cool! If you ever get a chance, go to the EAA airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It's AWESOME!

@F4f879 no, it was on a beach somewhere here in the states. I want to say North Carolina, but it was probably like 25 years ago so my memory is a little fuzzy.

@Awsomur when I was younger I went with my dad and my grandfather to a D-day reenactment. It was super cool, there were a whole lot of soldiers, planes, and a couple of ships out in the water. It was utter chaos. It was neat to watch but also frightening at the same time.
I’ve never thought of someone re-enacting an air battle. Have a nice time there!
