Synchronization Gear

2,636 Phaz3Shift  7.1 years ago

I love WWI airplanes. Put me in a slow, nimble, open cockpit, perhaps dangerous machine any day! However, without synchronization gear, my designs are somewhat limited, much like the early Entente aircraft in the war- how do I shoot forward without hitting my propeller? I have already used faux foster mounts for over-the-wing guns and pusher aircraft configurations, but I would like to do more, preferably without mods or XML editing (I like playing vanilla).

Of course, many WWII aircraft also fired through the propeller, so synchronization gear would also benefit some WWII aircraft builders, I feel.

I do not know how difficult it would be to make a gun able to fire through the propeller without hitting it, but I would love to be able to place a gun, click on a "Synchronize" button, and select an engine to have it sync!

@Oski Yeah, and the RPM should change with the throttle, so that would be a bit of a pain... Oh well. I'll find a way.

@Phaz3Shift no xml, yeah? Because you may just set the same rps at gun as rpm on prop, but this also needs xml.

@Gestour Thanks. I doubt I would have found that link on my own. Where did you get this link?

@Gestour Can we please keep this professional? I'm not trying to sound biting here. I really do appreciate that you guys are willing to offer advice, and I hate not taking it, but as I said, it's just my preference.
I guess the "Suggestion" forum category is actually not for "Ideas and suggestions for the game." So, please, tell me where I should post this instead.

    No XML, or mods...
Ok, then you have posted this in the completely wrong place.
Nobody here can change the default game.
Can't even imagine what you expected.

@RailfanEthan @DemonSniper8 @Gestour @corsair013 I appreciate the advice, but I'd prefer not using mods or XML editing; I like playing the game stock. Just my preference. I'll just find ways to work around it as the guys did before they had synchronization gear. Thanks, though!

@ThePrototype lmao, yeah. Or just disable collisions on the gun...

Just go into overload and turn the NoCollisions to True, then it can't hurt you, just the other guys

Or you could create some overly complicated system by making your own engine then figuring out how to make a sync gear @Gestour

Once the engine is running, there is no longer actually a propeller to syncronize with.

    Disable collisions on the gun

This already happens without the gear i think... but just to be safe disable collisions on the prop if you can do xml.

If you put the gun very close behind the propeller it already fires through it (technically it spawns on the other side but it amounts to the the same thing)

Disable collisions on the prop if you have overload or can .xml mod.

Good idea. I mean you can just put the gun close enough to the engine that the bullet spawns on the other side but still a good idea.
